ttc have won the RGN European Open in a grueling six map, double best-of-three series over Torpedo (16-9 on de_cache, 14-16 on de_dust2, 11-16 on de_overpass, 16-11 on de_mirage, 11-16 on de_cache, and 16-7 on de_train). The RGN European Open was first announced back in September and offered up $2,500 for interested and lesser known European teams via a double elimination online bracket. The tournament was originally scheduled to end back in October, however the organisation's preoccupation with their own offline Pro Series Championship in November no doubt extended the length and dating of the matches involved.
The two teams to survive the online brawl, which saw 24 teams taking part (short of the 32-team max signup and hence a slightly smaller prize-pool), were the European mix that is Robin "r0bs3n" Stephan's touch the crown (ttc) and the Swedish Torpedo squad. With ttc only needing to win one best-of-three to claim the grand final and first place, Torpedo were determined to put up a steadfast fight as the entire showdown saw Torpedo win the first best-of-three series despite losing the first map of de_cache 9-16. In the second best-of-three, ttc opened with a 16-11 win on de_mirage and then Torpedo got revenge by playing de_cache again in the series, to win the map this time at 16-11. The final map saw de_train appear as a novel battleground and ttc were finally able to win the map (16-7) and series after six maps, thus taking home the $1,500 first place prize.
